Free Skills Development Training To Empower

Free Skills Development Training To Empower

Free skills development training is essential for an adult’s life.  It empowers a community of people with disabilities to contribute towards society and do things they enjoy.

Action strives to give the necessary skills to people with disabilities so that they can reach their full potential.

Skills development that we offer are:

  • Computer skills
  • Call centre skills
  • Preparing a resume
  • How to be successful in interviews
  • How to handle workplace issues
  • How to work as a team

Independent living skills are skills that a person with disabilities needs on a daily person.  These are skills that teach things such as

  • Eating
  • Dressing
  • Bathing
  • Toileting
  • Grooming
  • Home chores
  • Shopping
  • Money management
  • Medication management

We need resources to be able to teach such life skills and due to the high cost of such tutors.  Teaching living skills starts at childhood, as difficult as it is – it is a prerequisite.  We require tutors and coaches who will volunteer and give back to an often overlooked community.

We would like disabled people of all ages and disabilities to learn leadership skills by managing disability in a workplace setting.  Learnership programmes provide opportunities for disabled people and gives them leadership skills.

People with disabilities of all ages fall under the idea that they cannot do anything without an able bodied person close by.  We need to work together as a community and create an environment of creative thinking and confidence building. We need to teach our youth that they can surpass the limitations they are told they have.

We need to expose students to the workforce environment.  Only then, will they understand the job types and behaviors while developing exceptional work habits, such as:

  • Following instructions given
  • Punctuality
  • Understanding hierarchy within workplace
  • Working as a team
